So close to 20 followers!!!

Hello!!.  I hope everyone is doing well. 


I am up to 16 followers....woohoo!!  Thank you to everyone who has visited my blog and are following me.  I really hope that I can get to 20 followers by the end of this month so that I can find a lucky winner for an aŸmuse|studio catalog.


I am in the final week for studying for my next exam as I work toward obtaining my CFP designation (a 2 day exam in November).  So, I won't have time to post a new card until next week sometime.  I will somehow make up for missing these last couple weeks....so stay tuned.


In the meantime, I wish everyone well and many blessings to you all.

JUST FOR FUN - CONSULTANT CHALLENGE, ASCC2-May2011

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend.  I can't believe it went by so quickly and tomorrow starts another work week.

I decided to use a little bit of my free time today to make our second challenge from Julie Ebersole, the Director of Education for A Muse Studio.  The challenge is to incorporate the "kissing" stamping technique to our project.  Below is a video tutorial from Julie:

I'll admit....I had a tough time trying to use this technique with my limited supply of a|s stamps (at least for now).  I ended up using the Flutterby stamp from A Muse's Everything's Rosy release last year as my base stamp and then I used the flowered egg from the Egg-Stravaganza set for the "kissing".

Stamps:  Flutterby (A Muse Artstamps), Egg-Stravaganza, Contemporary Greetings

Cardstrock:  Buttercup, Bermuda, Vellum Paper

Ink:  Buttercup, Bermuda, Memento Tuxedo Black

Embellishments:  Pearls in Bermuda and Ivory, Bermuda Organdy Sheer Ribbon

Other:  EK Success Real Estate Punch

JUST FOR FUN - CONSULTANT CHALLENGE, ASCC1-May2011

This is my first participation in a challenge.  The challenge is to create a card using the recessed window technique.  Below is a link to Julie's video tutorial for this technique.  The hard part for me was trying to come up with a theme.  Well, with Father's Day around the corner, I thought I would make a special card.

Now, who doesn't love to win prizes?!?!  The winner of this challenge gets a free a|s stamp set.  I wish everyone taking this challenge the best of luck.  I've seen some beautiful cards!!

FATHER'S DAY CARD



Stamp set:  tool-rific, essential sentiments

Cardstrock:  Vanilla, French Roast

Ink:  French Roast

Embellishments:  French Roast Twill

NOTE:  The "Happy Father's Day" stamp in the essential sentiments set is a single lined stamp.  I masked the "day" and then "happy father's" to create the double lined sentiment.

I needed a lift

I took a little time off from studying to make this card.  It was nice to spend some time crafting.

I masked the hot air balloon stamp from the sentiment (and vice versa) so that I could stamp the sentiment separate from the image.  I wanted to see how well the tombow markers worked with stamping images.  Not perfect, but I like it.  (What I've learned about stamping is that I need to get over the need to be a perfectionist....LOL)  I  took a strip of the vintage cardstock and broke down the fibers before looping the strips into a faux ribbon.

I wanted to share a project using 2-sided ribbon (The ribbon was purchased at the A Muse shop).  This project was taught by an instructor at the A Muse shop in Seattle. Her name is Jodie and she is fantastic!!  Her 2 daughters (and husband, Sam) come in regularly on Saturdays to do the make n' take. 

I loved the technique she used.  I made this card for a client who is going through chemo for ovarian cancer.  I thought it was absolutely perfect.
