Getting a head start ....2013 calendar display

You know the theme......Christmas in July!!

I can't believe we are so close to the end of July.  Every year, I have the same thought around this time....where did the time go?!?!?!?!  

This year, I'm getting a head start for Christmas and hopefully, I will keep on track.  Last year, I was making cards, tags, presents, etc. at the very last minute.  Although I enjoyed making the projects, the stress took a bit away from the enjoyment....a bit.

So, what am I working on?

A couple years ago, I found these photo displays at a craft garage sale.

At $5 each, it seemed like a bargain too sweet to pass.  So, I bought a few of them.  Since then, they have just sat in a box.  I knew I would use them for a project other than a photo stand, but it wasn't until about a month ago that I finally figured out what I was going to do with them........

HANDMADE CALENDARS!!!!

Wouldn't they make perfect gifts?!?!?!?!?!?

I started out by designing a calendar template.  I used Microsoft Publisher to create the template.  The size of the calendar is 2.5 x 2.5.  This gave me room to layer it with a 2.75 x 2.75 solid colored cardstock which will be adhered to a layered 6 x 6 page (layered with 5.5 x 5.5 Sugar Cardstock).


All products are A Muse Studio:  Sugar cardstock, Cherry cardstock, Cherry  Petite Polka Dot cardstock

Now that I had all the pieces to my calendar, I need to come up with a design for each month.  I'm not very good at designing on the fly, so I used scratch pieces of 5.5 x 5.5 white cardstock to practice.

I have only completed the December 2013 calendar page, but couldn't wait to share it with you.  Here is my finished page:





Stamps sets are all A Muse Studio:  Santa's Flight and tiny snowflake from Winter Stag; Memento Tuxedo Black ink, a|s Sky ink; colored with Copics.


You don't have to have a photo display to make this calendar.  This would look fabulous with ribbon to tie the calendar pages together and have it as a wall calendar.
